ChromoSphere¢â Dyed Particles

ChromoSphere polymer microspheres are internally dyed with deeply colored red or black dyes. The intense colors result in very high contrast and visibility relative to most background materials. They are available as dry powders, and can easily be suspended in aqueous media if desired.

The product line consists of sizes between 50 and 500 microns. The microspheres are made from cross-linked polystyrene divinylbenzene (PS-DVB) copolymer and should be stored at room temperature. They can be dispersed in aqueous media with the aid of a small amount of surfactant, or in lower alcohols, such as methanol and ethanol.

Some dye extraction will result when the particles are suspended in pure alcohols, but will be minimal. Other organic solvents, such as ethers or chlorinated hydrocarbons, should be avoided because they will swell the particles and completely extract the dye.

Applications :
  • Testing of filtration media and systems
  • Vial and container cleaning evaluations
  • Flow tracing and fluid mechanics
  • Contamination control
  • Sedimentation processes
  • Pharmaceutical manufacturing control
Advantages :
  • Intense colors, internally dyed for very high contrast and visibility relative to most background materials
  • In-house manufacturing and packaging
  • More than thirty years experience in synthesis, dyeing, measuring, packaging and support
  • No special hardware required, can be observed directly in the media being tested either visually or by light microscopy
